March is Crochet Month
Crocheters rejoice with a month to call their own!
We at Coats have always known crochet is hot, and now crocheters can honor their craft with a month-long crochet celebration. Look for all sorts of activities sponsored by local yarn shops and crochet guilds. If you're not located near either, join up with a group of crochet friends and create crocheted blankets for the homeless or baby items for local charities. The Crochet Guild of America website lists more than 70 charities that accept crochet donations. To see the list, visit www.crochet.org.cgi-bin/charitybyname.pl.
An excellent way to share your love of crochet during National Crochet Month is to teach a child or a friend. According to Rita Weiss, president of the CGOA, "It is essential that we pass on the skill of crochet. What better way to empower a child or an adult than by giving them a crochet hook and a ball of yarn … the skill of crochet will spark their imagination and bring lifelong enjoyment." If you're not sure where to start, CGOA has several ideas to help: www.crochet.org/teach/toc.html. Help spread the joy of crochet!
