Coats & Clark has joined the PBS show, Hands On Crafts for Kids as a sponsor. This show is packed with fun craft projects, each presented in five steps and five ingredients. In addition to craft projects, guests join host, Kathy Stull, to teach basic crafts like knitting, crochet, scrapbooking and jewelry making.
Kathleen Sams, Coats & Clark’s publicity manager, taught knitting and crochet basics on the show. Kathleen demonstrated how to take the basic stitches and make a belt, scarf, shrug and super-cool fingerless gloves.
The shows website, Craftsforkids.com, makes available project sheets for each of the 10 seasons it has been on the air. It is a treasure of ideas!
Another great aspect of this program is The Hands On: Crafts for Kids Project which encourages kids to help others through crafts. One of the foundation’s initial projects was to donate craft supplies to children at homeless shelters. On the show and website Hands-On spotlights kids and clubs that are helping other kids in their communities either by teaching crafts, donating items they have made or making items for fundraisers.
