How-to Single Crochet

One of the most versatile and basic stitches, the single crochet stitch is the foundation for making a wide range of projects. Keep your tension even for best results, and you are ready to go!

	Click each diagram for a larger view. Fig 1 Insert hook into the 2nd chain stitch from hook. Fig 2 Yarn over and pull through to get 2 loops on the hook. Fig 3 Yarn over and pull through the 2 loops. Fig 4 Insert the hook into the next chain stitch and continue the row. Fig 5 At the end of the row chain 1 stitch and turn the work. Fig 6 Start the first single crochet of a row in the first stitch. For single crochet do not count the turning chain as a stitch.
