NOTE: Motifs may be made in any color. Motifs may be joined together while working the last round of each motif after the first motif OR sewn together after all motifs are completed. Join or sew together in any order.

To join on last round (PLAN AHEAD so that motifs will be joined in a straight line): Work up to the point where a ch-sp is required, * work 1/2 of the number of ch required, hold motifs with wrong sides together and sl st or sc in a ch-sp of adjoining motif, complete number of ch for motif in progress *, work to another sp on same side of motif in progress and repeat from * to *; complete motif as written.

Our scarf has 19 motifs: five No. 1, three No. 2, four each No. 3 and No. 4, and three No. 5.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:
Beg cl (cluster): [holding back last lp on hook, dc in same sp] twice, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook.
Cl (cluster): [holding back last lp on hook, dc in same sp] 3 times, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook.

MOTIF NO. 1: Ch 7; join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring; join with a sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, skip first sc, dc in next sc, [ch 3, dc in next 2 sc] 5 times, ch 3; join to top of ch-3.
Rnd 3: Sl st to ch-3 sp, (ch 3, beg cl, ch 4, cl) all in first sp, ch 4, [(cl, ch 4, cl) all in ch-3 sp, ch 4] 5 times; join to top of beg cl.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, [(2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) all in next ch-4 sp] 6 times; join. Fasten off.

MOTIF NO. 2: Ch 6; join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: [Sc in ring, ch 3] 12 times; join with a sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 1, sc) all in first sp, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp] 11 times, ch 1, hdc in first sc to join and form last sp.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next sc, [(sc, ch 9, sc) all in next sc, sc in next 3 sc] 3 times, (sc, ch 9, sc) all in next sc, sc in last sc; join.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, * (2 hdc, 17 dc, 2 hdc) all in next sp, skip next 2 sc **, sc in next sc; rep from * around, end at **; join.
