NOTE: Vest is made in one piece to armholes, working CA section with CA and CB section with CB. Change color by working off last 2 lps of last dc at center back with next color to be used. Do not cut yarns but carry up work on wrong side.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With CA, ch 39 (45, 51, 57), join CB and ch 43 (49, 55, 61); turn. This will appear as 40 (46, 52, 58) CA ch and 42 (48, 54, 60) CB ch.
Row 1 (Right Side): With CB, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in 39 (45, 51, 57) CB ch, with CA, dc in next 39 (45, 51, 57) CA ch, 2 dc in last ch; turn - 82 (94, 106, 118) sts.
Row 2: With CA, ch 3, dc in first 2 dc, [skip next dc, Vst in next dc, skip next dc] 13 (15, 17, 19) times changing to CB in last dc of last V-st, with CB, [skip next dc, V-st in next dc, skip next dc] 13 (15, 17, 19) times, dc in next dc, 2 dc in top of ch-3; turn - 84 (96, 108, 120) sts.
Row 3: Changing colors at center back as before, ch 3, dc in first dc, dc in each dc and ch-1 sp to last st; 2 dc in top of ch-3; turn - 86 (98, 110, 122) sts.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip first dc, * skip next dc, V-st in next dc, skip next dc; rep from * to last st; dc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc and ch-1 sp to last st; dc in top of ch-3; turn. Rep Rows 4 and 5 for pat 5 (5, 6, 6) more times, then rep Row 4 once more.

Shape Front Slope/Divide for Fronts and Back- LEFT FRONT: Row 1 (Right Side): Keeping continuity of color change, ch 3, skip first dc, dc3tog over next 3 sts (3 sts = the dc, ch 1, dc of V-st), dc in next 78 (90, 102, 114) sts, dc3tog over next V-st, dc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next st, [skip next dc, Vst in next dc, skip next dc] 5 (6, 7, 8) times, dc in next dc; turn - 18 (21, 24, 27) sts.
Row 3: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc and ch-1 sp to last 3 sts; dc2tog, dc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip first dc and dc2tog, V-st in next dc, work in pat to end; turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc and ch-1 sp to last 4 sts; dc2tog over first dc of V-st and next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, skip last ch-3; turn.
Row 6: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next st, work in pat across; turn.

Rep Rows 3-6 twice more, then Rows 3 and 4 0 (0, 1, 1) more time - 9 (12, 14, 17) sts for shoulder. Fasten off.

BACK: Keeping continuity of color change, with wrong side facing, skip next 4 dc of last long row, join CA in next dc; ch 3, [skip next dc, V-st in next dc, skip next dc] 12 (14, 16, 18) times, dc in next dc; turn. Work even in pat on these 38 (44, 50, 56) sts until 1 row less than Front to shoulder, end wrong side row.

Divide for Neck and Shoulders: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next 8 (11, 13, 16) sts. Fasten off. With right side facing, skip center 20 (20, 22, 24) sts, attach CA in next st; ch 3, dc in each st to end. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT: With wrong side facing, skip next 4 dc of last long row, join CB in next dc; ch 3, work same as Left Front reversing shapings.

FINISHING-Edging: Sew shoulder seams. Working CA over the CB sections and vice versa, join yarn and work 1 rnd sc around each armhole and around entire outer edge, taking care to keep work flat; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Sew one button to each front at beg of front slope shaping. Button Loop Piece: With CA, ch 7, (sc, ch 6, sl st) all in 7th ch from hook. Fasten off leaving a 10" length. Wrap long end 3 times around center of Button loop piece, leaving chain loops free; secure ends. Wrap Button loop piece around each button at front.
