HAT
With CA, ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in ring; join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 12 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each dc around; join – 24 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * around; join – 36 sts.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc; rep from * around; join – 48 sts.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 3 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc; rep from * around; join – 60 sts.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 4 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc; rep from * around; join – 72 sts.

Brim-Rnd 1: Ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 2 dc, * 2 hdc in next dc, hdc in next 2 dc; rep from * around; join in top of ch-2 – 96 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around; join.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 3 hdc, * 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc; rep from * around; join – 120 sts.
Rnds 4 and 5: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around; join.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in each hdc around; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
DECORATION: Make 1 rosette same as for scarf and sew to the hat brim.
Cut four 1" felt circles; sew small stitches on felt with CC, using photo as a guide. Stitch to the hat. Make six 1" pom poms each CB and CC and sew to the hat.
SCARF
With CA, ch 17.
Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across; turn – 15 sts.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc and a ch-1sp), skip first 2 dc, dc in next dc, * ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 sts; ch 1, skip next dc, dc in top of turning ch; turn – 7 ch-1 sps.
Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as a dc), skip first dc, * dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 sts; dc in sp, dc in 2nd ch of ch- 3; turn.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip first 2 dc, dc in next dc, * ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 sts; ch 1, skip next dc, dc in top of ch-2; turn.
Rep Rows 3 and 4 until 60" from beg, end Row 3. Do not fasten off but turn piece to work down side edge with right side still facing.
Edging: Ch 1, work sc evenly around all 4 sides of scarf, taking care to keep work flat and working 3 sc in each corner; join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
DECORATION:
Tassels (Make 4): Using the Tassel Tool, wind CB and CC together 20 times on the 4" step. Bind the top of the tassel with 12" lengths of CB and CC. Tie the neck of the tassel with CB. Cut the bottom of the tassel and pull off of the tool. Attach to the corners of the scarf with the remains of the 12" lengths used to bind the top of the tassel, tied into tiny bows.
Rosettes (Make 2): Using the Tassel Tool, wind CB and CC together 12 times on the 3" step. Bind the top of the rosette with 6" of yarn. Pull the rosette off the tool without cutting the loops. Spread the loops around to create a loopy rosette. Lay aside. With CB, make a 1 1/2" pom pom, winding the yarn 12 times. Tie the center of the pompom tightly with 12" length of yarn. Cut the pompom away from the tool and trim to a ball. (Do not cut the center ties.) Lay aside.
Cut two 2" flower shapes from the felt. Sew 6 straight stitches on the felt with CC. See photo as a guide. Cut a small hole in the center of the felt. Push the ties on the pompom through this hole and then through the center of the yarn rosette. Tie the three pieces together. Attach the rosette to the scarf. |
