Inc 2 sts each end: Ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) all in first st, work in pat to last st; (sc, ch 1, sc) all in last st; turn – 4 sts inc.

Dec 2 sts each end: Ch 1, sc in next st, [skip next st, sc in next st] twice, work in pat to last 4 sts; [skip next st, sc in next st] twice; turn – 4
sts dec.

PATTERN STITCH:
Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook,
* ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in next st, * ch 3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next st; rep from * across; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next st, * ch 1, skip next st, sc in next st; rep from * across; turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, sc in next st, * ch 3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next st; rep from * to last 2 sts; ch 1, skip next st, sc in
last st; turn.

Row 5: Rep Row 3.

Rep Rows 2-5 for pat.

BACK: With larger hook, ch 66 (74, 82). Work pat Row 1 – 65 (73, 81) sts. Beginning with pat Row 2 and keeping continuity of pat, shape sides by inc 2 sts on pat Row 3, then every 4th row 3 times – 81 (89, 97) sts at end of last increase row. Work 4 rows even.

Shape Armholes: Sl st across first 5 sts, ch 1, sc in same st as last sl st, ch 1, work in pat to last 4 sts; turn. Dec 2 sts each end of next row, then every 4th row 3 times – 57 (65, 73) sts. Work even in pat until armhole measures 6½ (7, 7½)", end by working Row 3 or 5.

Shape Shoulders:Work in pat across first 9 (13, 17) sts; turn. Work 1 row even. Fasten off. Skip next 39 sts of last long row, attach yarn in next st, work 2 rows in pat across last 9 (13, 17) sts.

SLEEVES: With larger hook, ch 46 (50, 54). Work Row 1 same as for back – 45 (49, 53) sts. Work in pat, shaping sides by inc 2 sts each end of 5th row, then every 10th row twice –57 (61, 65) sts. Work 14 rows even, end by working Row 3 or 5.

Shape Cap-First Row: Sl st across first 5 sts, ch 1, sc in same st as last sl st, ch 1, work in pat to last 4 sts; turn. [Dec 2 sts each end of next row. Work 1 row even.] twice. Work 3 more rows even. [Rep First Row. Work 1 row even.] 3 times – 9 (13, 17) sts. Fasten off.

FRONT (Make 2): With larger hook, ch 10 (14, 18). Work Row 1 same as for Back – 9 (13, 17) sts. Work pat Row 2. Mark one end ‘arm edge’ and the other end ‘front opening’. Keeping continuity of pat, shape ‘arm edge’ by inc 2 sts at ‘arm edge’ end on next row and every 4th row 3 times AND AT THE SAME TIME, shape ‘front opening’ by inc 2 sts at ‘front opening’ end on next row and every other row 7 times – last row will have 33 (37, 41) sts. Work 2 rows even.

Shape Armhole and Front Slope: Omit 4 sts at arm edge by either sl st across first 5 OR working to last 4 sts and turning as before – 29 (33, 37) sts. Dec 2 sts at each end of next row, then every 4th row 3 times – 13 (17, 21) sts. Now dec 2 sts at ‘front opening’ end ONLY on
4th row from previous dec – 9 (13, 17) sts. Work even in pat until front is same length as back. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder, side and sleeve seams; set in sleeves. With smaller hook, work 1 round of sc around entire body and each sleeve edge, taking care to keep work flat; join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
