Row 1 (Right Side): V-st in 5th ch from hook, * skip next 2 ch, V-st in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch; skip next ch, dc in last ch; turn – 24 (28, 30) V-sts.
Row 2: Ch 3, V-st in the ch-1 sp of each V-st across; dc in top of ch-3; turn. Rep Row 2 for pat until about 8½" from beg, end wrong side row.
Shape Armholes: Sl st to the ch-1 sp of 2nd (2nd, 3rd) V-st; ch-3, [V-st in ch-1 sp of next Vst] 20 (24, 24) times, dc in ch-1 sp of next V-st; turn, leaving rem sts unworked. Work even in pat until armholes measure about 8 (8½, 9½)".

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Place center of sleeve tops at shoulder seams; sew in place, sewing upper ¾ (¾, 1½)" of sleeve to skipped sts at underarm. Sew sleeve and side seams.
