BACK-Lower Section: Ch 19 (21).
Row 1 (Wrong Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 18 (20) sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.
Row 3: Ch 2 (ch-2 does NOT count as a st), dc in each sc across; turn. Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each dc across; turn.
Rows 5-28 (5-30): Rep Rows 3 and 4.
Row 29 (31): Rep Row 4. Fasten off.
Yoke: Turn piece to work across row ends. With right side facing, attach yarn at a corner; ch 1, work 36 (38) sc evenly across row ends; turn. Rep Rows 3 and 4 for pat until 13 rows in all have been worked for yoke. Fasten off.
RIGHT FRONT-Lower Section: Ch 19 (21).
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 18 (20) sc. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.
Buttonhole Row 3: Ch 2 (ch-2 does NOT count as a st), dc in first 2 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next 6 (7) sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next 5 (6) sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in last 2 sc; turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch-1 sp across; turn.
Row 5: Ch 2, dc in each sc across; turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each dc across; turn.
Rows 7-26 (7-28): Rep Rows 5 and 6.
Row 27 (29): Rep Buttonhole Row 3.
Rows 28 and 29 (30 and 31): Rep Row 4. Fasten off.
Yoke: Turn piece to work across row ends. With right side facing, attach yarn at a corner; ch 1, work 36 (38) sc evenly across; turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first 22 sc, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next st; turn – 25 sts.
Row 3: Ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each st across; turn – 24 sc.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in first 19 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc; turn – 22 sts.
Row 5: Ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each st across; turn – 21 sc.
Row 6: Ch 2, dc in first 16 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc; turn – 19 sts.
Row 7: Ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each st across; turn – 18 sc.
Row 8: Ch 2, dc in first 13 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc; turn – 16 sts.
Row 9: Ch 1, sc in each st across; turn.
Row 10: Ch 2, dc in first 13 sts; turn.
Row 11: Ch 1, sc in each dc across; turn.
Row 12: Ch 2, dc in each sc across; turn.
Row 13: Rep Row 11. Fasten off.
LEFT FRONT-Bottom Section: Ch 19 (21). Work same as Back Bottom Section.
Yoke: Work same as Right Front Yoke.
Note: Reverse when sewing sweater together.
SLEEVES: Ch 25 (27). Work in pat same as for Back Lower Section over 24 (26) sts until 18 rows in all have been completed. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder, side, and sleeve seams; set in sleeves. Sew on buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
HAT
Boy's: Ch 4; join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: 6 Sc in ring; do not join but work in continuous rnds through Rnd 20, marking beg of rnd and moving marker up each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnds 3-4: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 5: [Sc in sc, 2 sc in next st] 6 times – 18 sc.
Rnd 6: [Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 24 sc.
Rnd 7: [Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 30 sc.
Rnd 8: [Sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 36 sc.
Rnd 9: [Sc in 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 42 sc.
Rnd 10: [Sc in 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 48 sc.
Rnd 11: [Sc in 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 54 sc.
Rnds 12-20: Sc in each sc around.
Rnds 21 and 22: Ch 3, dc in each st around; join with a sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 23: Ch 1, sc in each st around.
Rnd 24: Rep Rnd 21. Fasten off. Make a small tassel and attach to top of hat.
Girl's: Work same as Boy's Hat through Rnd 19.
Rnd 20: Ch 5, * skip next sc, sc in front lp of next sc, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first ch of ch-5.
Rnd 21: Work in back lps of Rnd 19, ch 3, dc in each st around; join with a sl st in top of ch-3.
Rnd 22: Rep Rnd 20.
Rnd 23: Rep Rnd 21 working in back lps of Rnd 21.
Rnd 24: Ch 1, sc in each st around.
Rnd 25: Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Fasten off. Make a small tassel and attach to top of hat. |
