CARDIGAN
BORDER: With larger hook and CA, ch 98 (110, 122).
Row 1 (Wrong Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, * ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next 5 ch; rep from * to last 4 ch; ch 1, skip next ch, sc in last 3 ch; turn – 97 (109, 121) sts.
Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, * sc in ch-1 sp, sc in next 2 sc **, ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * to last sc, end at **; sc in last sc, changing to CB; turn.
Row 3: With CB, ch 1, sc in first sc, * 5 dc in ch-1 sp 2 rows below **, sc in ch-1 sp on last row; rep from * to last sc, end at **; sc in last sc; turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, changing to CA in last sc; turn.
Row 5:With CA, ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, * ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * to last 4 sc; ch 1, skip next sc, sc in last 3 sc; turn.
Rep Rows 2-5 once more, then Rows 2-4 again. Fasten off.

BODY: With right side facing and smaller hook, join CB on opposite side of beg ch; ch 1, work 97 (109, 121) sc across; turn. Work even in sc until 5 (6, 61/2)" from beg, end wrong side row.
Divide for fronts and back-Right Front: Ch 1, sc across 24 (27, 30) sc; turn. Work even until 3 (31/2, 4)" above division, end wrong side row. Shape Neck: Sl st across first 8 (8, 9) sc, ch 1, sc in 16 (19, 21) sc. Decrease 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows – 14 (17, 19) sc. Work a few rows even until 4 (41/2, 5)" above division. Fasten off.
Back: With right side facing, join CB and sc in next 49 (55, 61) sc of last long row; turn. Work even until back measures same as front to shoulder. Fasten off.
Left Front: With right side facing, join CB and sc in last 24 (27, 30) sc; turn. Complete to correspond to right front, reversing neck shaping.

Collar: Sew shoulder seams. With wrong side facing and larger hook, join CB to left front neck edge; ch 1, work 49 (49, 55) sc evenly across to right front neck edge, changing to CA in last st; turn. Now work same as Border Row 5, then work Rows 2-5 twice, then Rows 2 and 3 again. Fasten off. With right side of collar facing, join CB to first row end of collar; ch 1, sc across short end of collar, 3 sc in corner, sc in each st across long edge, 3 sc in corner, sc across short end. Fasten off.

SLEEVES: With larger hook and CA ch 26 (32, 32). Work Border Rows 1-4 same as for Body over 25 (31, 31) sts. Fasten off. With right side facing and smaller hook, join CB on opposite side of beg ch and work 25 (31, 31) sc across.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in first 1 (1, 2) sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 1 (2, 1) sc] 12 (10, 14) times, sc in last 0 (0, 1) sc; turn – 37 (41, 45) sc. Work even in sc until 61/2 (7, 8)" from beg. Fasten off. Sew sleeve seams; set in sleeves.

FINISHING-Button Band:With right side facing and smaller hook, join CA to left front edge and work 3 rows sc evenly across. Fasten off.
Buttonhole Band: On right front mark positions for 5 buttonholes. Work same as for button band for 1 row. Buttonhole Row: Ch 1, [sc to marker, ch 1, skip 1 sc] 5 times, sc to end; turn. Next Row: Ch 1, [sc to sp, 2 sc in ch-1 sp, skip next sc] 5 times, sc to end. Fasten off. Sew on buttons.

BLANKET
Lower Border: With larger hook and CA, ch 182. Work Border Rows 1-5 same as for Cardigan Body over 181 sts, then rep Rows 2-5 seven more times, then rep Rows 2-4 again. Fasten off. With right side facing and smaller hook, join CA on opposite side of beg ch and work 181 sc across; turn. Work even in sc until 32" from beg, end right side row. Upper Border: Change to larger hook and work Border Row 5, then Rows 2-5 eight more times, then Rows 2-4 again. Fasten off. With right side facing and smaller hook, join CA and work 1 row sc across each side edge. Fasten off.
