When working in rounds, be careful not to work into the joining slip stitch. It does not count as a stitch.

how to make a gauge swatch
Ch 15. Work Rows 1 and 2 of Blanket instructions, then repeat Row 2 eight more times for a total of 10 rows. Swatch should measure about 4" x 4"/10 x 10cm. If necessary, adjust hook size to obtain correct gauge.

BLANKET
With A, ch 85.

Row 1 Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end – 84 hdc.

Row 2 Ch 2, turn, hdc in front loop only of first st, hdc in back loop only of next st, *hdc in front loop only of next st, hdc in back loop only of next st; repeat from * across row.

Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 24"/61cm from beginning. Do not fasten off.

Edging Round Ch 2, do not turn; working in ends of rows along side, sc in end of each row along side; work 3 sc in corner; working on opposite side of foundation ch, sc in each ch across; work 3 sc in corner; working in ends of rows along opposite side, sc in end of each row along side; work 3 sc in corner; sc in each st across to end; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

CIRCLE (make 32 - 8 in each color)
Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 Ch 2, work 8 hdc into ring; join with sl st in first hdc.

Round 2 Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around; join with sl st in first hdc – 16 hdc.

Round 3 Ch 2, hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first hdc – 24 hdc. Fasten off.

finishing
With right sides of circles all facing in the same direction, place circles around outer edge of blanket alternating colors. Sew 1 circle to each corner, 8 circles along each long edge, and 6 circles along each short edge. Sew edges of each circle to blanket and to edges of circles on either side. Weave in all ends.
