SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

Long dc : Yo and insert hook in indicated sc, draw up lp to height of row in progress, [yo and draw through 2 lps on hook] twice. For easier access of skipped sts, fold crochet rows back to expose lps of skipped sts. Do not work around skipped rows – the long dc should sit on the surface of the right side of the blanket.
To Change Colors In Sc : With working color, draw up a lp in next st, drop working color and pick up new color, draw new color through 2 lps on hook.

With CA, ch 109.
Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 108 sc.

Row 2: With CA, ch 1, sc in first sc, * ch 2, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc; rep from * to last 3 sc; ch 2, skip next 2 sc, sc in last sc changing to CB; turn. Do not cut CA but carry it loosely up side of rows until needed again.

Row 3: With CB, ch 1, sc in each sc and ch across; turn.

Row 4: With CB, sc in each sc across changing to CA in last sc; turn.

Row 5: With CA, ch 1, sc in first sc, * long dc in next 2 skipped sc 3 rows below, skip next 2 sc on Row 4 **, sc in next 6 sc; rep from * to last sc, end at **; sc in last sc; turn.

Row 6: With CA, ch 1, sc in first 5 sts, * ch 2, skip next 2 sc **, sc in next 6 sts; rep from * to last 5 sts, end at **; sc in last 5 sts changing to CC in last sc; turn.

Rows 7 and 8: With CC, rep Rows 3 and 4.

Row 9: With CA, ch 1, sc in first 5 sc, * long dc in 2 skipped sc 3 rows below, skip next 2 sc on Row 8 **, sc in next 6 sc; rep from * to last 5 sc, end at **; sc in last 5 sc; turn.

Rep Rows 2-9 for pat until approximately 36” from beg, end Row 9; turn.

Next Row: With CA, ch 1, sc in each st across; fasten off.

FINISHING: With right side facing, join CA at lower right corner; ch 1, sc in each row end up right side edge of blanket. Fasten off.
With right side facing, join CA in upper left corner; ch 1, sc in each row end down left side edge of blanket. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Border: With right side facing, join CA in any sc.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, * ch 3, skip next sc **, sc in next sc; rep from * around, end at **; join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: With right side facing and holding ch-3 lp back, join CB in any skipped sc on Rnd 1; ch 1, sc in same sc, * ch 3, push Rnd 1 to front and working behind Rnd 1 sts, sc in next skipped sc, ch 3, push Rnd 1 to back and working in front of Rnd 1 sts, sc in next skipped sc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in top of first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
