MOTIF 1 (Make 57): With CA ch 5; join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same sc as joining, ch 5, skip next sc, [3 dc in next sc, ch 5, skip next sc] 3 times; join to top of ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Attach CB in same st as joining. Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 dc, * working over the ch-5 to enclose it, work (2 tr, ch 2,2 tr) all in free sc of Rnd 1 **, sc in next 3 dc; rep from * around, end at **; join to first sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Attach CC in any ch-2 sp. Ch 3, (dc, eh 3, 2 dc) all in same sp, * dc in next 7 sts **, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) all in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around, end at **; join to top of ch-3. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
MOTIF 2 (Make 57): Work same as Motif 1 EXCEPT work ring and Rnds 1 and 2 with CB; work Rnd 3 with CC, and Rnd 4 with CA.
MOTIF 3 (Make 63): Work same as Motif 1 EXCEPT work ring and Rnds 1 and 2 with CC; work Rnd 3 with CA, and Rnd 4 with CA.
Sew motifs together following diagram. Work one rnd sc evenly around edge with CC. |

WOVEN SEAM Woven seams are flat, smooth and elastic. To make a woven seam, place the sections right side up and side by side on a hard, flat surface. Thread a large, blunt-pointed needle with a 20 inch (51 cm) length of matching yarn. Weave the yarn back and forth alternating from one side to the other, picking up corresponding yarns in each stitch (10). Be sure to match rows and patterns. Stretch the seam slightly before ending to incorporate elasticity, then make several backstitches into the seam and clip yarn close to work. |
