Felting Place piece(s) in lingerie bag or pillowcase and close securely. Place in washing machine. Add several pairs of jeans or bath towels for additional agitation. Wash using hot wash/cold rinse cycle and mild laundry detergent. Remove piece and gently press and stretch into shape. Repeat washing cycle, if necessary, until desired measurements are achieved. Place small objects such as paperback books, small boxes, crochet hooks, etc. inside pockets to maintain shape, and allow to dry completely. Embellish your organizers as desired.
Note Felting is not an exact science. Many factors influence the outcome, including the type of washing machine used, water quality, water temperature, detergent type, amount of agitation, even the dye lot of the yarn. Check your work frequently to achieve desired results. Your piece may require washing in two or more cycles before desired results are achieved. |
