How to make a gauge swatch
Ch 15.
Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 14 sc.
Rows 2 and 3 Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 4 Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sc, [ruffSt over next sc, sc in next 3 sc] 3 times – 3 ruffles and 11 sc.
Row 5 Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc and first ch of each uffle across – 14 sc.
Row 6 Repeat Row 4.
Rows 7-18 Repeat Rows 5 and 6 six more times.
Resulting gauge swatch should measure approx 4" x 4"/10cm x 10cm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notes
1 Front and Back panels are semicircular. Each measures approx 4"/10cm deep x 91⁄2"/24cm wide.
2 Side gusset is a long strip with tapered ends. Gusset measures approx 25"/63.5cm long x 2"/5cm wide (at widest point).
3 To work a sc into a ruffSt, work the sc into a free loop of the first ch of the ruffle.

Finishing
With right sides facing together, pin one long edge of side gusset to lower edge of front panel, taking care to line up ruffles. With I hook, join yarn to one end with sl st. Working through both thicknesses, sl st evenly
along edges to form seam. Repeat to attach back panel. Turn purse right side out. With matching sewing thread and needle, sew zipper into top of purse. Slip tapered ends of side gussets through purse handles. Fold over, sew in place with yarn. Weave in all ends.
