GAUGE: Rows 1-12 of inner square = 4”; completed square = 8”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.

SQUARE 1: (Make 30): With CA ch 13.
Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 12 sc.
Row 2-12: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.
Rnd 1: At end of Row 12, turn and work down side, working 10 sc down each side, 10 sc across top and bottom, 3 sc in each corner; join. Fasten off.

SQUARE 2: (Make 30): With CB, repeat square 1.
Square Assembly: Rnd 1: Holding 1 each of Square 1 and Square 2, wrong sides together and matching stitches, join CC in any center corner st; working through both lps, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, *dc in next 12 sts, 3 dc in next (corner); rep from * around; join to beg ch 3. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Holding 1 strand CA and 1 strand CB together as one, join in any center corner st; ch 6, dc in same st, *ch 1 [skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1] 7 times**, (dc, ch 3, dc) all in next st; rep from * around, ending at **; join to 3rd ch of beg ch 6. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join CC in any ch-3 corner sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in same sp, *dc in each st and space across to next corner **, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next corner sp; rep from * around, ending at **; join to beg ch 3.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around working 3 sc in each corner sp; join to beg sc. Fasten off.

FINISHING – Joining Squares: Sew or weave together in 5 rows of 6 blocks each.

Border – Rnd 1: Join CC in any center corner st, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st around working 3 dc in each center corner st; join to beg ch 3. Rnd 2: Ch 3, 3 dc in next st (corner), dc in each dc around, working 3 dc in each corner st; join to beg ch 3. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Fringe: (Optional): Cut 9” strands each of CA, CB and CC. Holding 1 of each color, fold strand in half to form a loop, insert hook from wrong side into fabric and draw loop through the fabric, then draw all ends of fringe through the loop. Tighten. Trim.
