Cutwork Embroidery from 1960
This timeless pattern is as fresh and contemporary today as it was when it was first published in the 1960s. While the design may look complex, creating elegant cutwork lace is actually much easier than you may think! Simple buttonhole stitch is worked around the design and complete edge of your project, then the excess fabric is trimmed to the edge of the embroidery.
The flexibility of this unique technique allows you to create a matching set to suit your exact needs by simply extending the width and length of your runner or doily to fit your furniture. The models were stitched on a rose colored fabric with coordinating threads, but these patterns work equally well when stitched "tone on tone" or in color combinations to suit your decor.
The original pattern has been reproduced for your enjoyment in the free projects section for hand embroidery! We hope you enjoy!
