Knit Your Bit

With Memorial Day just ahead, it’s a great time to join Coats & Clark in participating in the  National World War II Museum’s “Knit your Bit” campaign. Through Knit Your Bit, thousands of scarves have been donated to veterans in Veteran Centers.

Knit Your Bit is in its second year but it has a long history. During World War I and World War II, citizens knitted items for soldiers. These socks, sweaters, fingerless mitts and other items knitted by citizens provided warmth and comfort for the soldiers and gave Americans a way to help the war effort. From school classrooms to church basements, needles were busily clicking away.

Instructions and more history are included on the National World War II Museum website.

The scarves use Red Heart® Soft Yarn™.
