HAT

NOTE: Work with 2 strands of one color held together throughout.

With CA and smaller needles, cast on 50 sts divided on 3 needles (16, 16 and 18). Place marker to indicate beginning of the round and join into a circle being careful not to twist sts.

Rnds 1-3: With smaller needles, * K1, P1; rep from * around.

Rnds 4-10: Change to larger needles and K every rnd.

Rnds 11-14: With CB, K every rnd. Rnds 15-18: With CC, K every rnd.

Rnds 19-22: With CB, K every rnd.

Rnds 23-26: With CA, K every rnd. Now shape top as follows:
Rnd 27: [K8, K2 tog] 5 times – 45 sts.

Rnd 28: [K7, K2 tog] 5 times – 40 sts.

Rnd 29: [K6, K2 tog] 5 times – 35 sts.

Rnd 30: [K5, K2 tog] 5 times – 30 sts.

Rnd 31: [K4, K2 tog] 5 times – 25 sts.

Rnd 32: [K3, K2 tog] 5 times – 20 sts.

Rnd 33: [K2, K2 tog] 5 times – 15 sts.

Rnd 34: [K3, K2 tog] 3 times – 12 sts.

Rnd 35: [K2, K2 tog] 3 times – 9 sts.

Rnd 36: [K1, K2 tog] 3 times – 6 sts.

Cut yarn leaving a 12" tail. Thread yarn tail in a yarn needle and weave through 6 remaining sts; pull up tightly; fasten securely. Weave in ends.

SCARF

NOTE: Work with 2 strands of one color held together throughout.

With CA, cast on 12 sts.

Row 1 (Right Side): Knit.

Row 2: K2, P8, K2.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 for pattern and work 2 more rows with CA. Now work in Stripe Color Sequence: 2 rows CB, 2 rows CC, 2 rows CB, 4 rows CA. Rep the last 10 rows until scarf is approximately 52" long.

Bind off loosely.
