RED HEART® “Plush™”, Art. E719 (6 ounce/290 yard skein): 6 Ounces No. 9851 Navy CA for scarf, and 3 ounces No. 9851 Navy CA for Hat.

RED HEART® Ltd. “Foxy™”, Art. E724 (1.76 ounce/89 yard ball): 1 Ball No. 9353 Majesty CB for scarf, and 1 ball No. 9353 Majesty CB for hat.

Knitting Needles: 4mm [US 6] for scarf.

Double-pointed Knitting Needles: 4mm [US 6] for hat.

Stitch marker; yarn needle.

Scarf measures approximately 8 3/4" wide x 60" long. Hat fits most women; hat circumference is 20".

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4"; 20 rows = 4" in ribbing with CA for scarf.
17 sts = 4"; 18 rnds = 4" in St st with CA for hat.
CHECK YOUR GAUGES. Use any size needles to obtain the gauges.

SCARF


With CA, cast on 39 sts.

Row 1 (Right Side): K2, * P1, K1; rep from * to last st; K1.

Row 2: K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 until 54" from beg. Bind off.

With CB, pick up and K39 sts evenly across cast-on edge. K every row for 3". Bind off. Rep for bind-off edge of scarf.

HAT


Brim: With CA and double-pointed needles, cast on 86 sts, dividing sts as evenly as possible on 3 needles. Join for working in the rnd, and place marker to indicate the beg of the rnd. Work in ribbing as follows:

All Rnds:
* K1, P1; rep from * around.

Rep the last rnd for 2". Now K 1 rnd, dec 1 st – 85 sts.

Change to St st (K every rnd), and work even until 6" from beg. Shape Crown as follows:

Dec Rnd 1: * K2tog, K15; rep from * around – 80 sts.

Dec Rnd 2: * K2tog, K14; rep from * around – 75 sts.

Dec Rnd 3:
* K2tog, K13; rep from * around – 70 sts.

Dec Rnd 4:
* K2tog, K12; rep from * around – 65 sts.

Dec Rnd 5:
* K2tog, K11; rep from * around – 60 sts.

Dec Rnd 6:
* K2tog, K10; rep from * around – 55 sts.

Dec Rnd 7:
* K2tog, K9; rep from * around – 50 sts.

Dec Rnd 8:
* K2tog, K8; rep from * around – 45 sts.

Dec Rnd 9:
* K2tog, K7; rep from * around – 40 sts.

Dec Rnd 10:
* K2tog, K6; rep from * around – 35 sts.

Dec Rnd 11:
* K2tog, K5; rep from * around – 30 sts.

Dec Rnd 12:
* K2tog, K4; rep from * around – 25 sts.

Dec Rnd 13:
* K2tog, K3; rep from * around – 20 sts.

Dec Rnd 14:
* K2tog, K2; rep from * around – 15 sts.

Dec Rnd 15:
* K2tog, K1; rep from * around – 10 sts.

Cut yarn and weave tail through rem sts twice. Draw up tightly; fasten securely.

Brim Trim:
Turn hat inside out. With wrong side facing and CB, pick up and K86 sts along cast-on edge, dividing sts as evenly as possible on 3 needles. Join for working in the rnd, and place marker to indicate beg of the rnd. Work in St st for 2". Bind off.

Turn hat right side out again. Fold up trim to the Right Side to cover ribbing of hat; knit side of trim will be facing out. Using CA, loosely sew bind-off edge of trim in place all around the hat.
