PATTERN STITCHES: Textured Pat: (Multiple of 2 sts). Row 1 (RS): *K1, P1; rep from * for pat. Row 2: *K1, P1; rep from * for pat. Rows 3 and 4: Knit. Rep Rows 1-4 for pat.
BACK: With smaller needles, CO 72 (79, 87, 94) sts. Work in Garter St (Knit every row) until piece measures 1” from beg, ending with a WS row and inc 8 (9, 9, 10) sts evenly across the last row – 80 (88, 96, 104) sts.
Change to larger needles and beg Textured Pat, working even until piece measures 9 ½ (10, 10, 10)” from beg, ending with a WS row.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 8 (12, 16, 18) sts at beg of next two rows – 64 (64, 64, 68) sts.
Work even in pat until armhole measures 8 ½ (9, 9 ½, 10)”, ending with a WS row.
Shape Shoulders: BO 6 sts at beg of next four rows. BO 5 (5, 5, 6) sts at beg of next two rows. BO rem 30 sts.
Left Front: With smaller needles, CO 35 (38, 42, 45) sts. Work in Garter St until piece measures approx 1" from beg, ending with a WS row, inc 3 (4, 4, 5) sts evenly across last row—38 (42, 46, 50) sts.
Change to larger needles, beg Textured Pat, and work even until piece measures approx 9 ½ (10, 10, 10)" from beg, ending after WS row.
Shape Armhole: BO 8 (12, 16, 18) sts at beg of next row—30 (30, 30, 32) sts rem. Keeping continuity of pat, work even until piece measures approx 16 ½ (17 ½, 18, 18 ½)" from beg, ending with a RS row.
Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): BO 5 sts at neck edge once, BO 3 sts at neck edge once, then BO 2 sts at neck edge once— 20 (20, 20, 22) sts rem.
Dec 1 st at neck edge every row three times—17 (17, 17, 19) sts rem each side.
Work even until piece measures same as back to shoulder.
Shape Shoulder: BO 6 sts at shoulder edge twice. Work one row even. BO.
Right Front: Same as left front except reverse all shaping.
Sleeves: With smaller needles, CO 36 sts. Work Garter St until piece measures approx 1" from beg, ending with a WS row, inc 4 sts evenly across last row—40 sts.
Change to larger needles, beg Textured Pat, inc 1 st each side every fourth row 0 (6, 15, 25) times, every sixth row 14 (15, 8, 0) times, then every eighth row 4 (0, 0, 0) times—76 (82, 86, 90) sts.
Cont even until piece measures approx 21 ½ (22, 22, 21 ½)" from beg.
BO.
Finishing: Sew shoulder seams.
Buttonband: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 68 (72, 74, 76) sts evenly along left front edge. Work Garter St for 1". BO.
Place markers for 5 (5, 6, 6) evenly-spaced buttons along band, making the first and last ¼" from neck and lower edge.
Buttonhole Band: Work same as buttonband until band measures ½". Next Row: BO 3 sts opposite markers. Next Row: Knit, CO 3 sts over the bound-off sts from previous row. Complete as for buttonband.
Collar: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 78 sts around neckline, beg and end halfway through front bands. Work Garter St for 3 ½", inc 1 st at each shoulder seam and at center back neck every other row, changing to larger needles when collar measures 2" from beg. BO.
Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. |
