Circular Knitting Needles: U.S. Sizes 6 [4mm] and 7 [4.5mm] – 29". 3 Stitch holders; six ¾" buttons; sewing needle and thread.

BODY (Worked in one piece to the underarms): With smaller needles cast on 181 (201, 221, 241) sts. Work in ribbing as follows:

Row 1 (Right Side): K1, * P1, K1; rep from* across.
Row 2: P1, * K1, P1; rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 1¾", end wrong side row. Change to larger needles and Basketweave pat as follows:

Rows 1 and 3: P4, * K3, P7; rep from * to last 7 sts, K3, P4.

Row 2: K4, * P3, K7; rep from * to last 7 sts; P3, K4.

Row 4: Purl.

Rows 5 and 7: K2, * P7, K3; rep from * to last 9 sts; P7, K2.

Row 6: P2, * K7, P3; rep from * to last 9 sts; K7, P2.

Row 8: Purl.

Rep Rows 1-8 for pat until 10½ (10½, 11, 11)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Divide for fronts and back: Keeping continuity of pat work across first 44 (49, 54, 59) sts for right front. Put center 93 (103, 113, 123) sts on a holder for the back and rem 44 (49, 54, 59) sts on a second holder for the left front.

Right Front-Shape Armhole: ** Bind off 5 (5, 6, 6) sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Bind off 3 (4, 4, 5) sts at beg of next row. Work one row. Bind off 2 (3, 3, 4) sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at arm edge on next 1 (3, 3, 3) rows – 33 (34, 38, 41) sts. Work 1 row even.

Shape Armhole and Front Slope: Dec 1 st each end of every right side row until 29 (30, 32, 33) sts rem. Work 1 row. Now dec 1 st at neck edge only every right side row until 25 (26, 28, 31) sts rem, then every 4th row until 17 (18, 20, 22) sts rem. Work even until 9 (9½, 10, 10½)" above division, end right side row.

Shape Shoulder: Bind off 8 (9, 10, 11) sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Bind off rem 9 (9, 10, 11) sts. **

Back-Shape Armhole: With right side facing, join yarn to sts on back holder. Bind off 5 (5, 6, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 (4, 4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 2 (3, 3, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end of next 1 (3, 3, 3) rows, then every right side row until 67 (69, 75, 79) sts rem. Work even until 8 (8½, 9, 9½)" above division, end wrong side row.

Divide for Neck: Work across first 19 (20, 22, 24) sts, put center 29 (29, 31, 31) sts on a holder; with a 2nd ball of thread work across rem 19 (20, 22, 24) sts. Working on both sides at once with separate balls, work 1 row even. Dec 1 st at each neck edge on next 2 right side rows AND AT THE SAME TIME when back measures same as front to shoulder, bind off 8 (9, 10, 11) sts at beg (arm edge) of next 2 rows, then 9 (9, 10, 11) sts at same edge of next 2 rows.

Left Front: With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts. Work same as right front from ** to ** EXCEPT end wrong side row before beg shoulder shaping.

FINISHING- Armbands: With right side facing and smaller needle, pick up and K95 (103, 111, 119) sts across armhole. Work in ribbing for 6 rows. Bind off evenly in rib. Sew shoulder and armband seams.

Front Bands: Mark positions for 6 buttonholes along right front, the first ½" above lower edge, the last ½" below beg of front slope shaping and 4 more evenly spaced between. With right side facing and smaller needle, pick up and K98 (101, 106, 109) sts up right front, 6 sts down right back, K across 29 (29, 31, 31) sts on back holder, pick up 6 sts up left back, and 98 (101, 106, 109)  sts down left front – 237 (243, 255, 261) sts. Work in ribbing for 2 rows.

Buttonhole Row: [Rib to marker, bind off 3 sts] 6 times, rib to end. Next Row: [Rib to bind-off, turn, cast on 3 sts, turn] 6 times, rib to end. Work 2 more rows in ribbing. Bind off evenly in ribbing. Sew on buttons.
