BACK: ** With 6.5mm needles and CA, cast on 56 (62, 68) sts. Work back and forth in pat as follows:
Row 1 (Right Side): P3 (6, 2), sl 1 P, * P6, sl 1 P; rep from * to last 3 (6, 2) sts; P3 (6, 2).
Row 2: K3 (6, 2), P1, * K6, P1; rep from to last 3 (6, 2) sts; K3 (6, 2).
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until 4 (4 1/4, 4 1/2)" from beg, end Row 2. Shape Sides: Dec 1 st at each end of next row – 54 (60, 66) sts. Keeping continuity of pat, work even until 8 (8 1/2, 9)" from beg, end Row 2. Now inc 1 st at each end of next row – 56 (62, 68) sts. Work even until 12 (13, 14)" from beg, end Row 2. **
Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of pat, bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 48 (54, 60) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of next 4 (5, 5) rows – 40 (44, 50) sts. Work even until armhole measures 7 (8, 9)", end Row 2.
Divide for Neck/Shoulders: Work across first 10 (12, 14) sts, turn and put rem sts on a holder. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next row. Bind off rem 8 (10, 12) sts.
With right side facing, attach yarn and bind off center 20 (20, 22) sts, work in pat to end. Complete to correspond to first side.
FRONT: Work same as for back from ** to **.
Shape Armholes/Divide for Neck: Bind off 4 sts, work in pat across next 21 (24, 27) sts including st on needle after bind-off, turn and put rem sts on a holder. Bind off 2 sts at neck edge on next 4 wrong side rows, then dec 1 st at neck edge on following 1 (1, 2) rows AND AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at armhole edge on next 4 (5, 5) rows – 8 (10, 12) sts. Work even in pat until front measures same as back to shoulders. Bind off.
With right side facing, attach yarn and bind off center 6 sts, work in pat to end. Complete to correspond to first side, reversing shapings.
SLEEVES: With CA and 6.5mm needles, cast on 31 (33, 35) sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): P1 (2, 3), sl 1 P, * P6, sl 1 P; rep from * to last 1 (2, 3) sts; P1 (2, 3).
Row 2: K1 (2, 3), P1, * K6, P1; rep from to last 1 (2, 3) sts; K1 (2, 3).
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for pat, shaping sides by inc 1 st at each end of 5th row, then every 8 (7, 6)th row until there are 51 (57, 63) sts, working added sts into pat. Work even until 17 (18, 19)" from beg, end Row 2.
Shape Cap: Keeping continuity of pat, bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 43 (49, 55) sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of every row until 11 (13, 15) sts rem. Bind off.
FINISHING: Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
Neck Edging-Rnd 1: With right side facing and crochet hook, attach yarn at a seam; ch 1, work sc evenly around neck edge taking care to keep work flat; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around EXCEPT work sl st over the 6 sts at center front neck; join. Fasten off.
Cowl: With CB and 6.5mm needle, cast on 84 (96, 108) sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): * K2, P2; rep from * across. Do not turn needle but bring first end of needle around and join being careful not to twist sts. Place marker on needle to indicate beg/end of rnds.
Rnd 1: * K2, P2; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for ribbing for 3". Change to 8mm needle and continue in ribbing until 5" from beg. Change to 9mm needle and continue in ribbing until 7" from beg. Bind off loosely in ribbing. |
