GAUGE: 20 sts = 4"; 25 rows = 4" in St st on larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

instructions
 
FRONT AND BACK (Alike): With smaller needles, cast on 84 (94, 104, 114) sts. Work as follows:

Row 1 (Right Side):
K4, * P1, K4; rep from * across.
Row 2: P4, * K1, P4; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 1", end Row 2. Change to larger needles and St st, beg K row increase 1 (0, 0, 0) st each end of first row – 86 (94, 104, 114) sts. Work even in St st until 12" from beginning, end P row. Change to smaller needles and work as follows:

Row 1 (Right Side):
K5 (5, 6, 7), * P4, K4; rep from * to last 1 (1, 2, 3) sts; K1 (1, 2, 3).
Row 2: K1 (1, 2, 3), P4, * K4, P4; rep from * to last 1 (1, 2, 3) sts; K1 (1, 2, 3). Mark each end of last row.
Rep last 2 rows until 7 (8, 9, 10)" above markers, end wrong side row.

Shape Shoulders/Cowl:
Keeping continuity of ribbing, bind off 18 (22, 27, 32) sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 50 sts. Continue in ribbing as established for 8". Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FINISHING:
Sew shoulder and cowl seams; sew side seams to markers.
