Row 1 (Wrong Side): K1,* P2, K1; rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * C2B, P1; rep from * across.
Row 3: Rep Row 1.
Row 4: P1, * C2F, P1; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1-4 for pat until 8 (9, 10)" from beg, end
wrong side row.
Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of pat, bind off
6 (7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end
of next 4 (5, 6) rows – 56 (61, 66) sts. Work even until
12 1/2 (13 1/2, 14 1/2)" from beg, end wrong side row.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 15 (16, 17) sts at beg of
next 2 rows. Put rem 26 (29, 32) sts on a holder.
LEFT FRONT: With CB, cast on 72 (84, 90) sts. Work
Border same as for Back – 37 (43, 46) sts. Change to
CA and work in pat same as for Back until 8 (9, 10)"
from beg, end wrong side row.
Shape Armhole: Keeping continuity of pat, bind off 6
(7, 8) sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at armhole edge
only on next 4 (5, 6) rows – 27 (31, 32) sts. Work even
until front measures 1 1/4 (1 3/4, 2)" less than back to
shoulder, end right side row.
Shape Neck: Bind off 6 (5, 5) sts at beg of next row.
Bind off 2 sts at same edge on next 3 (5, 5) wrong side
rows – 15 (16, 17) sts. Work even until front measures
same as back to shoulder. Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT: Work same as for Left Front reversing
all shapings.
SLEEVES: With CB, cast on 66 (78, 90) sts. Work
Border same as for Back – 34 (40, 46) sts. Change to
CA and work in pat same as Back, shaping sides by inc
1 st at each end of every 4th row until there are 58 (62,
66) sts, working added sts into pat. Work even until 8
(8 1/2, 9)" from beg, end wrong side row.
Shape Cap: Keeping continuity of pat, bind off 6 (7,
8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of
next 4 (5, 6) rows – 38 sts. Bind off 3 sts at beg of next
6 rows – 20 sts. Dec 8 sts evenly on next row – 12 sts.
Bind off loosely.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder and side seams. Sew sleeve
seams; set in sleeves.
Button Band: With right side facing and CB, pick up
and K51 (57, 63) sts down left front edge. K 2 rows.
Picot Edging: Bind off 2 sts, * sl last st back to left
needle, cast on 2 sts, bind off 1 st, [K2tog, sl first st on
right needle over the K2tog] twice; rep from * across.
Bind off last st.
Buttonhole Band: Mark positions for 5 (6, 6) buttonholes
down right front edge. With right side facing and
CB, pick up and K51 (57, 63) sts up right front edge. K 1
row.
Buttonhole Row: [K to marker, yo, K2tog] 5 (6, 6)
times, K to end. Work Picot Edging. Sew buttons to left
front to correspond to buttonholes.
Collar: With wrong side facing and CA, pick up and K18
(20, 22) sts across left neck edge, K 26 (29, 32) sts of
back holder dec (inc, 0) 1 st, pick up and K18 (20, 22)
sts across right neck edge – 61 (70, 76) sts. Work in
pat same as for Back, beg Row 1 until 3 (3 1/2, 4)" from
beg, end wrong side row. Put sts on a holder. Cut CA.
With right side facing and CB, beg at left front edge of
collar, pick up and K15 (18, 21) sts across row ends, K
across sts on holder dec 1 st, pick up and K15 (18, 21)
sts across row ends of right front collar – 90 (105, 117)
sts. Work Picot Edging.
