STRIPE PAT: 2 Rows CB, 2 rows CC, 2 rows CA. Rep these 6 rows for Stripe pat. Do not cut yarn but carry loosely up wrong side of work.

BACK-First Leg: ** With smaller needles and CA, cast on 23 (25, 27) sts. K 2 rows. Change to larger needles and Stripe pat and work in St st, beg K row, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of next 4 K rows – 31 (33, 35) sts. P 1 row. Put sts on a holder.

Second Leg: Work same as first leg, keeping stitches on needle. Keeping continuity of Stripe pat, K across sts of both legs – 62 (66, 70) sts. P 1 row.

Shape Crotch: K28 (30, 32), SKP, K2, K2tog, K28 (30, 32) – 60 (64, 68) sts. P 1 row. Next Row: K27 (29, 31), SKP, K2, K2tog, K27 (29, 31) – 58 (62, 66) sts. P 1 row. Next Row: K26 (28, 30), SKP, K2, K2tog, K26 (28, 30) – 56 (60, 64) sts. ** Work even until 4 (4 3/8, 4¾)" from beg, end P row.

Divide for Back Opening: K27 (29, 31); turn and put rem sts on a holder. Work even until 8 (9, 10¼)" from beg, end P row. Continue in St st and CB ONLY until 9 (10½, 12¼)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armhole: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at same edge every K row until 13 (14, 16) sts rem. Work even until 14 (16, 18)" from beg – armhole should measure 5 (5½, 5¾)". Bind off.

With right side facing, attach yarn to sts on holder; bind off center 2 sts, K to end – 27 (29, 31) sts. Complete to correspond to first side, reversing armhole shaping.

FRONT: Work same as back from ** to **. Work even until 8 (9, 10¼)" from beg, end P row. Continue in St st and CB ONLY until 9 (10½, 12¼)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each end of every K row until 28 (30, 34) sts rem. Work even until 12½ (14½, 16½)" from beg, end P row – armholes should measure 3½ (4, 4¼)".

Divide for Neck: K10 (10, 11); turn and put rem sts on a holder. Bind off 2 sts at neck edge, then dec 1 st at same edge on next 3 rows – 5 (5, 6) sts. Work even until front measures same as back to shoulder. Bind off.
With right side facing, attach yarn to sts on holder; bind off center 8 (10, 12) sts, K to end – 10 (10, 11) sts. Complete to correspond to first side, reversing neck shaping.

FINISHING:
Neckband:
  Sew shoulder seams. With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K44 (48, 52) sts around neck edge. K 2 rows. Bind off.

Buttonhole Band: With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K52 (60, 70) sts down right back edge. Buttonhole Row: K9 (9, 11), yo, K2tog, [K8 (10, 12), yo, K2tog] 4 times, K1. K 1 row. Bind off.

Button Band: With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K52 (60, 70) sts up left back edge. K 2 rows. Bind off.

Overlap bands and tack lower edges to bound-off sts at back division. Sew buttons to button band to correspond to buttonholes.

Armbands: With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K66 (72, 76) sts across armhole edge. K 2 rows. Bind off.
Sew armband and side seams. Sew leg seams.
