BACK-Lower Ruffle: ** With CA, cast on 110 (120, 130, 140) sts. Join CB and Knit 2 rows. With CA, Knit 2 rows. With CB, Knit 2 rows. Cut CB. Continue with CA only in St st, beg K row, until approximately 3 (3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2)" from beg, end P row.
Last Row: * K2tog; rep from * across – 55 (60, 65, 70) sts. **
Work even for 2 1/4 (2 3/4, 3 1/4, 3 3/4)", end K row. Put sts on a holder.
Center Ruffle: With CB, cast on 110 (120, 130, 140) sts. Join CA and Knit 2 rows. With CB, Knit 2 rows. With CA, Knit 2 rows. Cut CA. Continue with CB only in St st, beg K row, until approximately 3 (3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2)" from beg, end P row.
Last Row: * K2tog; rep from * across – 55 (60, 65, 70) sts.
Join Lower and Center Ruffles: Transfer sts of lower ruffle from holder to the extra needle. With wrong sides facing you and lower ruffle closest to you, hold center ruffle behind lower ruffle and Purl 1 st from each needle together at the same time across the row – 55 (60, 65, 70) sts.
Work even for 2 1/4 (2 3/4, 3 1/4, 3 3/4)", end K row. Put sts on a holder.
Top Ruffle: Work same as lower ruffle from ** to **. Join to assembled ruffles as before, holding top ruffle behind assembled ruffles.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 6 (6, 8, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 43 (48, 49, 54) sts.
Next Row: K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts; K2tog, K1.
Next Row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows 1 (1, 2, 2) more times – 39 (44, 43, 48) sts.
Divide for Neck/Tabs: K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K6 (7, 7, 8), K2tog, turn and put remaining sts on a holder. Dec 1 st at each end of every row until 6 sts remain. Bind off. (Note: Straps will be sewn to these tabs on Back; buttons will be sewn to these tabs on Front.)
With right side facing, join yarn and bind off center 17 (20, 19, 22) sts, K1, pass the first st on right needle over the K st, K6 (7, 7, 8), K2tog, K1. Complete to correspond to first side.
FRONT: Work same as Back.
STRAPS (Make 2): With CA, cast on 26 (30, 32,
34) sts.
With CB, Knit 2 rows.
With CA, Knit 2 rows making buttonhole on 2nd
row by Knitting to the last 4 sts; yo, K2tog, K2.
With CB, Knit 2 rows.
With CA, Knit 1 row. Bind off with CA.
FINISHING: Sew side and ruffle seams. Sew closed ends (NOT the buttonhole ends) of straps to back tabs. Sew buttons to front tabs. |
