Remove presser foot. Attach a darning foot or spring. Lower or cover feed dogs.

Set machine for a wide zigzag (4mm).

Place fabric in hoop. Fabric surface should be tight like a drum.

Place hoop underneath needle.

LOWER PRESSER FOOT LEVER!

Insert the needle into the fabric; bring up the bobbin thread. Take three small stitches; clip the thread ends.

Work with hands on the rim of the hoop, not inside the hoop.

Best results are obtained by running the machine at hight speed and moving the hoop slowly. Stitches should be close enough together to cover the fabric, but not so close that the thread builds up.  Here are some basic moves to practice:

Outlines:
Fig 1 : Vertical
Move the hoop forward and backward to crate a “U” shape.

Fig 2 : Horizontal
Move the hoop from side to side to create “S” shapes.

Fig 3 : Circular
Combine vertical and horizontal moves to form circles.

Fig 4
Practice by writing your name on the fabric and stitching using these basic moves. While learning move the hoop forward, backward and to the side. Do not rotate it.
