instructions

Select Technique
The technique used for embroidery depends on your sewing machine and the look you want to achieve. Computerized machines with embroidery units offer a wide variety of choices of designs and sizes.

Planning Your Project
First select a design, or use the pattern we have recommended. Stitch a practice run of the design (on another pair of jeans or denim-like fabric, if possible).

Determine the placement of your embroidery based on your practice stitching. Cut two rectangles of fabric to desired size including ½" seam allowances. Also cut a rectangle of stabilizer.

General Instructions

1. Prepare jeans. In order to hoop the fabric, you will need to rip-out the inseam of the jeans.

2. Determine placement of design and hoop fabric with stabilizer.

Hint: The pants leg, even with the seam removed, can be a challenge to hoop. To make it a little easier, use a self- adhesive tear-away stabilizer attached to the back of the hoop. Then place the jeans on top of the sticky side, rather than hooping the jeans fabric.

3. Put a new size 14, sharp or jeans needle in your machine. Thread machine with first thread color and bobbin thread. Embroider design, re-hooping as necessary.

4. Remove stabilizer

5. Stitch seam closed.
