instructions

 

Center design: Using Rayon thread, embroider design using a computerized motif or free-motion design. Trim fabric to a 5½ inch square, centering design.

Bias tape band: Attach to sides of center square by unfolding one fold and stitching in the fold, following the instructions below for mitering the corners.

Fabric bands: Cut strips 2" wide. Attach following instructions below.

Quilt pillow top: Stack 13" square of pillow front backing fabric, 13" square of batting and pillow top. Baste. Using metallic thread quilt on the seamlines of each fabric band (Fig 1)

Insert piping: Pin piping to right side of fabric, with piping stitching on seamline. On corners, clip raw edge of piping almost to stitching (Fig 2). Overlap the ends of the piping. Baste piping along seamline, using a zipper foot.

Make pillow: Cut a 12½" square of pillow back fabric. Pin back to pillow front. Trim excess batting and backing. Stitch just to left of basting stitches of the piping using a zipper foot. Leave a 10" opening on one side. Insert pillow form and hand-stitch opening closed.
