Royal Blue Solid Cotton:
1. Cut four 4 1/2" wide by 4" tall rectangles for the gift card holder and lining.
Silver Metallic Medium Rickrack:
1. Cut two 4 1/2" lengths for the front of the gift cardholder.
2. Cut two 4" lengths for the front of the gift cardholder.
Silver Metallic Ribbon (3/8" wide):
1. Cut two 10" lengths for the ties on the gift cardholder.

instructions:
The seam allowances for this project are 1/4" unless otherwise noted.
1. On the right side of one of the solid royal blue cotton rectangles, pin one of the 4 1/2" lengths of the silver metallic medium rickrack horizontally, 3/4" from the bottom edge of the gift card holder. Thread machine with silver metallic thread on top and all-purpose thread in the bobbin. Sew through the center of the rickrack, end to end.
2. On the top edge of the same rectangle, pin the other 4 1/2" length of rickrack horizontally, 1" from the top edge of the gift cardholder. Using the silver metallic thread, sew through the center of the rickrack, end to end.
3. On the right and left edges of the cardholder pin the 4" lengths of silver metallic rickrack at about 5/8" from the edge. Using the silver metallic thread, sew through the center of the rickrack, end to end.
4. Use two of the other rectangles for the lining for the gift cardholder. Thread machine with all-purpose thread in top and bobbin. Matching right sides together, sew two short sides of the rectangle and across one long side using a 1/4" seam allowance. The open side will be the “top” of the gift cardholder.
5. Trim corners, but do not turn this lining right side out. Press.
6. Use the rectangle decorated with silver rickrack and the remaining plain rectangle for the outside of the gift cardholder. Matching right sides together, sew the two short sides of the rectangle and across one long side using a 1/4" seam allowance. The open side will be the “top” of the gift cardholder.
7. Trim corners and turn to the right side. Press.
8. To make the top edge of the gift cardholder, fold under 1/4" and then another 1/4" on both the lining piece and the gift cardholder. (You will actually be folding both pieces towards their raw edge seam allowances). Press. (Be very careful not to touch the silver metallic rickrack with a hot iron).
9. Place the lining section of the gift cardholder inside the gift cardholder. All raw edges will be to the inside. Pin around the top edge.
10. At the center of the front top edge and at the center of the back top edge you will place a 10" length of silver metallic ribbon between the two layers of the gift cardholder. Tuck the edges about 1" inside the holder for stability. Pin.
11. Using the silver metallic thread, sew both pieces together at the top edge by using a straight stitch and sewing about 1/8" from the folded top edges of the gift card holder and lining.
12. Carefully press the gift cardholder. Finally, insert the gift card and tie the bow.
