One of this season’s most fashionable new looks for your home is seriously mixed up! Combining different textures for a touchable look is all the rage – so try mixing soft furnishings and home accessories in different fabrics and finishes.
There are lots of ways to achieve the look in your home, from making a quick dash to the shops to buy some textural treasures to spending time crafting your own unique pieces.
For instant impact, you won’t find a better way of getting the look than piling up cushions in different textures on a sofa or bed. Keep the colours similar, but incorporate as many textures as you can, from tactile fabrics such as silk, velvet or suede to highly embellished items that give you a chance to show off your crafting skills. Beading, embroidery, appliqué, crochet and knitting are all great for giving creating contrasting textures.
You could use all the same skills to create a stunning multi-textured patchwork bedspread. Make your patches as different as you can – a great option if you find you get bored doing one craft for too long!
To complement all the contrasting textiles, hunt out some touchable vases and picture frames and group them close together on a table or shelf. Wood, metal, ceramic and glass all work well together. Your only problem will be getting your guests to keep their hands off all your gorgeous new things!
