BACK AND FRONT (Alike): With straight needles, cast on 61 (69, 77, 85, 93) sts. Marking first row as the right side, P 2 rows. K 2 rows. Now work in pat as follows:

Row 1 (Right Side): P5, * K3, P5; rep from * across.
Row 2: K5, * P3, K5; rep from * across.
Row 3: P5; * sl next 2 sts onto holder and leave at back of work, K1, then K2 from holderCr3 made; P5; rep from * across.
Rows 4, 6, and 8: K.
Rows 5 and 7: P.
Row 9: P1, * K3, P5; rep from * to last 4 sts; K3, P1.
Row 10: K1, * P3, K5; rep from * to last 4 sts; P3, K1.
Row 11: P1, * Cr3, P5; rep from * to last 4 sts; Cr3, P1.
Rows 12 and 14: K.
Rows 13 and 15: P.
Row 16: K.

Rep Rows 1-16 for pat until 11 (11½, 12, 12½, 13)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Shape Armholes:
Keeping continuity of pat, bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end of every other row 3 (5, 6, 8, 10) times. Work even on rem 47 (51, 57, 61, 65) sts until armholes measure 4 (4, 4½, 4½, 5)" above bind-off. Bind off all sts.

SLEEVES: With straight needles, cast on 45 (45, 53, 53, 53) sts. [P 2 rows. K 1 row. K, dec 1 st at each end of row.] 4 times – 37 (37, 45, 45, 45) sts. P 2 rows. K 1 row. Next Row: K1, [K2 (2, 3, 3, 3), K2tog] 8 times, K4 – 29 (29, 37, 37, 37) sts. Mark each end of last row. Now work in pat same as for Back and Front, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of 7th row, then every 8 (8, 8, 8, 6)th row until there are 47 (51, 55, 59, 63) sts, working added sts into pat. Work even until 14½ (15, 15½, 16, 16½)" above marker, end wrong side row.
Shape Armholes: Work same as Back and Front – there will be 33 (33, 35, 35, 35) sts after shaping. Bind off.

COLLAR: Sew sleeves to Back and Front at armhole shaping. With wrong side facing and smaller circular needle, attach yarn at right back seam, pick up and K46 (50, 56, 60, 64) sts across Back, 32 (32, 34, 34, 34) sts across sleeve, 46 (50, 56, 60, 64) sts across Front, 32 (32, 34, 34, 34) sts across next sleeve – 156 (164, 180, 188, 196) sts. Work in rounds of K1, P1 ribbing for 4", change to larger circular needle and continue in ribbing until collar measures 9½" from pick-up row. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FINISHING: Sew side and sleeve seams. Run several rows of thread elastic through first 3" of ribbing above pick-up row.
