BACK: Cast on 55 (61, 67, 73) sts. Work in St st, beg K row, for 4 rows, end P row.

Shape Waist:
Dec 1 st each end of next row, then every 4th row 4 more times – 45 (51, 57, 63) sts. Work even until 6 (6, 6½, 6½)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Bust:
Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 4th row 4 more times – 55 (61, 67, 73) sts. Work even until 11 (11, 11½, 11½)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armholes:
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 49 (55, 61, 67) sts. Dec 1 st each end of every row 2 (2, 2, 3) times – 45 (51, 57, 61) sts. Work even until 17 (17½, 18½, 19)" from beg, end P row.

Divide for Neck:
K9 (12, 14, 16), with a second skein of yarn bind off center 27 (27, 29, 29) sts, K to end. Working on both sides at once, dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows. P 1 row. Bind off 7 (10, 12, 14) sts for each shoulder. Back should measure approximately 18 (18½, 19½, 20)" long.

LEFT FRONT: Cast on 27 (30, 33, 36) sts. Work in St st, beg K row, for 4 rows, end P row.

Shape Waist:
Dec 1 st at beg of next row, then at same edge every 4th row 4 more times – 22 (25, 28, 31) sts. Work even until 6 (6, 6½, 6½)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Bust:
Inc 1 st at beg of next row, then every 4th row 4 more times – 27 (30, 33, 36) sts. Work even until 11 (11, 11½, 11½)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armhole and Front Slope:
Bind off 3 sts, K to last 2 sts, K2tog. Mark last st of last row for beg of front slope. P 1 row.

Dec 1 st at each end of next row. P 1 row. Rep last 2 rows 1 (1, 1, 2) more times – 19 (22, 25, 26) sts. Now dec 1 st at neck edge only every K row until 7 (10, 12, 14) sts rem. Work even until armhole measures 7 (7½, 8, 8½)" and front measures approximately 18 (18½, 19½, 20)" from beg, end P row. Bind off.

RIGHT FRONT: Work same as left front, reversing all shapings. Do not mark for beg of front slope.

SLEEVES: Cast on 29 sts. Work in St st, beg K row, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of 7th (7th, 7th, 3rd) row, then every 8 (8, 6, 6)th row until there are 43 (45, 49, 53) sts. Work even until 15 (15½, 16, 16½)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Cap:
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 37 (39, 43, 47) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every K row 8 (8, 6, 6) times – 21 (23, 31, 35) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every row 5 (6, 10, 12) times – 11 sts. Bind off.

FINISHING-Lower Edging:
Sew shoulder and side seams.

Row 1:
With right side facing and crochet hook, attach yarn at lower corner of left front; ch 1, work 109 (121, 133, 145) sc evenly around to corner of right front; turn.

Row 2:
Ch 4, 2 dc in first sc, * [ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc] twice, ch 3, skip next 3 sc **; (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next scshell made; rep from * to last sc, end at **; (2 dc, ch 1, dc) all in last sc; turn.

Row 3:
Ch 4, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, * ch 2, skip next ch-3 sp, 5 dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 2 **, shell in next ch-1 sp; rep from * to last sp, end at **; (2 dc, ch 1, dc) all in ch-4 sp; turn.

Row 4:
Ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) all in ch-1 sp, skipping all dc of shells * [ch 1, tr in next dc] twice, ch 1, (tr, ch 1, tr) all in next dc, ch 1, [tr in next dc, ch 1] twice **, sc in ch-1 sp; rep from * to last sp, end at **; (sc, ch 1, sc) all in last sp; turn.

Row 5:
Ch 1, * (sc, ch 2, sc) all in ch-1 sp; rep from * across. Do not fasten off, but turn to work up right front edge.

Front Edging-Row 1: Ch 1, work sc evenly across edging, up right front, across back neck, down left front and across edging; turn.

Row 2:
Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc), skip first sc, hdc in each sc to marker, * ch 1, skip next sc, hdc in next sc; rep from * to end adjusting if necessary at curves and end of row; turn.

Row 3:
* (Sl st, hdc, sl st) all in ch-1 sp; rep from * to marker; sc in each hdc to end. Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging-Row 1: With right side facing and crochet hook, attach yarn at lower edge of sleeve; ch 1, work 28 sc evenly across; turn.

Row 2:
Ch 4, 2 dc in first sc, * [ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc] twice, ch 3, skip next 2 sc **; (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next scshell made; rep from * to last sc, end at **; (2 dc, ch 1, dc) all in last sc; turn.

Rows 3-5:
Work same as for lower edging on body except fasten off at end of Row 5.

Sew sleeve and edging seams. Set in sleeves. Mark six ch-1 sps of right front edging as buttonholes. Sew buttons to left edge to correspond.
